Riyadh – Mubasher: Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) announced that it has completed the regional interconnecting project of fibre optic network with Iraq.

The implementation of the project included the provision of fibre optic cables over the area of more than 80 kilometres from the Saudi city of Arar in the north till the Iraqi borders, according to a bourse filing.

The project came within the strategic projects of Mobily which include interconnecting Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Jordon, adding to three international marine cables between Jeddah and Khobar cities, the statement said.

Mobily owns a local fibre optical network stretching over more than 22,000 kilometres interconnecting cities.

The project promotes Mobily's regional and international presence, according to the statement.
